Abstract Traditional command and control is actually centralized command and control which is very effective in solving the deterministic problems, but it is faced with problems of delayed response and difficulty in adapting when dealing with the increasing uncertainty of modern war. From the perspective of gravity, this paper expounds the basic principle of centralized command and control, summarizes the characteristics of centralized command and control, defines the edge, edge operation, edge command and control, analyzes the deep reasons of the rise of the edge command and control, and the winning mechanism and distinctive features of edge command and control, proposes a process model of edge command and control. In the age of network information, centralized command and control is still essential mode for macro military systems;at the same time, edge command and control, as a new paradigm, is also
a command and control mode to deal with the uncertainty of battlefield. The evolution of command and control paradigm adapts to the needs of Times.
