The complexity science provides a theoretical basis for the correct understanding of the uncertainty essence of war, and also provides guidance for the development of operational command theory. This paper illustrates the origins, characteristics, and connotations of the uncertainty, compares the advantages and disadvantages among three typical command methods in solving uncertainty, then suggests to take the mission command method under appropriate
conditions, aiming at reducing centralized control, exploiting the initiatives of commanders at all levels, improving the operation effectiveness, and adapting to the ever changing situations in the battlefields.
