Abstract:This paper focuses on the impact of U.S. military unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) upon warfare forms and C2 approaches after they are employed in anti-terrorism war. UAVs are typical representative of remote control robots and have certain autonomy. The UAVs integrating reconnaissance and strike capabilities play an important role in targeted-killing operations, which also poses a series of problems concerning their use. Will you choose "mothership tactics" or "swarm tactics" if more robots are put in use on the battlefield? The pictures sent from UAVs can help to achieve unilateral transparency of the battlefield, which not only tempts senior commanders to exercise command bypass intermediate echelons, but also places higher demands on UAV operators. This results in a phenomenon that "tactical
generals" and "strategic corporals" coexist. To this end, it is necessary to advocate mission command and enlightened control in the operations that involve UAVs.
